The best after-work activities because life doesn’t end after your 9-5.
As it is starting to get warmer, you may find yourself wanting to spend more time outside. Having a full-time job in the summer, you may feel trapped and like you can’t have a social life. But this is not true. There are so many things to do after work to still see your friends and have fun during the summer, even after you clock out. There’s no need to stay out until the break of dawn and be too hungover to go to work the next day. From getting ice cream to going to trivia night, there are so many ways to still soak up the sun after your day of hard work and have enough energy to go in the following day.
Lately, my favorite thing to do is to go to the bar on the sunniest day of the week. There is a bar in my hometown that has an entire section outside that is open when it gets warm out. While you can just sit and socialize, they also have cornhole and firepits, making the outdoor experience that much more enjoyable. Getting a few of your friends together for a midweek pick-me-up may be the perfect thing to do, and a bonus is that you get to spend time outside, soaking up the last few hours of sunlight.
If you are just looking for an activity to do with your friends during the week, there are different events, such as trivia and darts at the bar as well. While the bar may not be ideal for everyone to go to, you may want to limit your time there for the weekends; it is always fun to do something there that doesn’t involve getting blackout drunk. So many places have different activities, such as the aforementioned trivia and darts, as well as pool and karaoke. Spa City Tap and Barrel in Saratoga has game night every Wednesday, where you and your friends can play every game they offer free of charge. Between that and their trivia and karaoke nights, there are so many ways to make your weekday bar experience fun on a budget.
Another activity to do with your friends after work involves golfing. I’m not saying playing a round of golf at your local club, which usually is an all-day occurrence. You can do mini golf, which is another way to spend some time outside. Or, if you want an indoor alternative, you can go to an indoor golf simulator. The Bunker is a super popular indoor golf experience located not only in the Capital Region but outside of New York as well. These are both perfect options if you want to do an activity with your friends. And depending on the weather, you have an indoor or an outdoor option.
Finding things to do with your friends on a budget is probably the best incentive to get them to participate in a midweek activity. Everyone needs to eat dinner, so a get-together for that is always an option. But looking further than dinner, what’s a meal without a sweet treat to follow? BJ’s Brewhouse has daily specials, specifically their Tuesday Pizookie special. The skillet cookie is half-priced every Tuesday, and even if you don’t have the time to do an entire dinner, getting a quick dessert with your friends is a great thing to do after work. Not only to socialize and see them but also to get the best sweet treat on a budget.
Doing anything to get out of the house and spend time with your friends after work may be the perfect midweek pick-me-up that you need to finish out the work week strong. Whether it be getting a quick ice cream or having dinner at a restaurant with a patio, there are so many ways to utilize the time in your day to have fun after a day of work. While you can spend this time inside, as it gets warmer, you may find yourself wanting to optimize your time outdoors. The sun sets later in the day, and there truly are so many options of what to do after work because life doesn’t end after your 9-5.
