What to Wear: Nashville Edition

Speaking from personal experience, planning outfits for any vacation is hard. You spend hours on Pinterest trying to get inspiration while staying on a budget because you want to look cute but you don’t want to spend all of your money before you get there. In terms of Nashville, there are so many people and trends to draw from, especially from the media right now. You can have so much fun on your vacation and look good while you’re there.

The first staple for Nashville speaks for itself…cowboy boots. Going there for vacation, you need a trusty pair of cowboy boots. Regardless of the color, everyone who is walking up and down Broadway is click-clacking around in boots. If you don’t bring a pair of boots, there are also so many places you can buy them from once you get there. I brought a white pair and a black pair since I knew they would match every outfit. Seeing that you probably won’t continue to wear them in everyday life, there are so many affordable options so you’re not wasting your money.

Along with cowboy boots, you should also bring a pair of sneakers and sandals. Your feet will inevitably need a break from the boots so it’s best to have backup options for the daytime. Personally, I found myself wearing sneakers or sandals during the day and then my boots to go out at night. It was the best option because there is a lot of walking when going to Nashville. We walked all up and down Broadway and even walked to The Gulch from the hotel. So it is definitely ideal to have multiple different options for footwear.

In terms of clothing, I went in May so thankfully the clothing was smaller and easier to pack into my checked bag. I ended up bringing a million different options because I am a chronic overpacker and super indecisive. The one thing that I knew I needed to buy was a denim skirt. In my opinion, it was so much more comfortable than denim shorts and made my outfits feel a little more dressed up. It also matched with everything from the tops down to the shoes whereas shorts don’t always go with certain things.

I wanted to bring mostly tank tops and what would be classified as “going out” tops. Every single bar on Broadway was packed and it was so humid outside that keeping cool was a main priority. It was bad enough that the humidity didn’t agree with my hair, I needed it to at least cooperate with my outfit. I also tried to focus on bringing dresses because they’re so easy to turn into an outfit with minimal effort. Most of the tops I decided to bring would also match each pair of bottoms I brought. Like the boots, neutral colors like black and white, and even brown, match most things. You’ll also find yourself changing your outfit from day to night so it’s best to have clothes that would be perfect for both.

It’s always difficult packing to go somewhere that you’ve never been before. Spending hours scouring Pinterest is something we all do to find inspiration. I made a board to try to narrow down exactly what I wanted to bring and it really did help. It’s best to bring what you’ll be comfortable in; you’ll be spending a lot of time on your feet and outside. No matter what you wear you’ll have a great time, but you want to look good living out your honky tonk dreams!
