Everyone in love sees February 14th as one of the most important days to celebrate. If you are not in a relationship, you may find yourself cringing at all the posts flooding your social media pages. While it is a celebratory day of love, if you are not in a romantic relationship, there are still ways to feel included on this special day. Rather than having a valentine, you can get with your galentines and celebrate your love for them instead.
While February 13th is technically Galentine's Day, if you do not have a valentine, you might as well celebrate your best friends on Valentine’s Day. There are so many ways to show your friends love for Galentine's you’ll forget the fact that you don’t even have a Valentine. One of the best things to do is to get together with your friends and do an activity. In high school, my friends and I would make dinner reservations, dress up, and spend time together. You can pick your favorite restaurant, and even if you do not have a significant other, you have an excuse to get dressed up and spend the holiday with people you love.
If you do not want to be surrounded by couples in public, there is always the option to have a girl's night in. There are so many at-home food and drink recipes that are so on theme for this day. And if you stay at home, you can decorate and dress for the theme as well. Putting heart balloons and streamers everywhere, you can make the atmosphere feel lovey-dovey for you and your best friends. If you want to make the night fun, I have seen people do themed drinks of their exes on TikTok, which I think would be a perfect addition to your Galentine’s Day celebration.
Exes Themed Drinks:
If you wanted to do a food and drink theme for this celebration, there is no shortage of recipes for that either. Whether it be pink and red-themed drinks and desserts or a meal that you wanted to make from scratch, there is something for everyone of all skill sets. One of my favorites would be heart-shaped pizzas. Everyone can add their own toppings of whatever they want, so there are no squabbles over the food options, and it’s a fun and easy food to make in a pinch.

During your at-home Galentine’s celebration, you can also watch a rom-com. This is a holiday about love after all, and diving feet-first into the mushy movies is crucial. Even if someone claims they hate these kinds of movies, everyone secretly has their favorite. Some of my recommendations include Love Rosie, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and The Notebook. While you can always have a movie night with the girls, it is a great way to spend your Valentine’s Day and celebrate the love you have for one another.
Celebrating Galentine’s is not the bitter, loveless girls getting together to trash Valentine’s Day, but it is to celebrate the love between friends that have been there for you, relationship or not. If you do not have a significant other, it gives you an excuse to dress up or have a fun time with your friends rather than sitting at home and wallowing while staring at social media posts all day long. Enjoy your day with your friends because that is what the holiday of love is really about.
